Day 4 ~ A full day in Fussen!
Updated: Sep 6, 2021
This was our only full day in Fussen, Germany. We started the day off with an authentic German breakfast with lots of meats, cheeses, breads, eggs, fruit, butter, jams, and cake. Way too much food lol! After breakfast we walked through town and ventured into the local cemetery. It was amazing!! We then headed out on our long hike to Neuschwanstein Castle. It was about a 3 1/2 mile trek to the castle and worth the effort. The castle was amazing! We met a gentleman who played a truly unique instrument called a Hurdy Gurdy and he invited me to turn the handle while he played the keys. Monte and I decided to head back into town while Steven ventured on to the lower smaller castle below called Schloss Hohenschwangau and enjoyed a guided tour while Monte and I went to Caffe Lucca for some incredible espresso and took in the city sites and sounds. We met another street musician in town playing beautiful violin music and talked a little with him and thanked him for sharing his talent with us. We ended the day with dinner at our hotel’s restaurant and had some delicious food and bier.
