Day 7 ~ Facing my FEAR x 3!

When i woke up all I could think about was if I could handle the heights I knew I was going to face today and if I could handle it or not. We started our journey to the Glacier first. When we arrived at the base and I saw the ascent of the gondola I was apprehensive. The gondola holds about 20 people and when the ascent began it was all good, until it really started climbing. I admit, I closed my eyes a few times as we eventually reached a height of 1200’ and almost straight up the face of the Glacier. Reaching the top there was some relief. Although walking out onto the deck that overlooks the valley also got my Spidey Senses tingling! But it wasn’t until I was faced with the decision to either walk across the suspension bridge and see the ice palace or stay on safer ground. After watching several people make their way across I decided to bit the bullet and just do it! I’m so glad I did! The Ice Palace was amazing! We had some coffee and enjoyed the views before our decent down (which was not as bad as the trip up lol). Next stop Zipline Stoderzinken! I thought that since I faced the Glacier I could deal with the zipline with no problem. We made our way up the mountain by bus to the starting point. From first glance it looked fun and easy. Once strapped in and waiting to be released a bit of fear stepped in. The straps that suspend you you are literally an inch wide and less than a 1/2 inch thick. And the “what if’s“ started in. 3, 2, 1, release! And sheer terror kicked in! Soaring almost 400’ above the mountain floor below and traveling at speeds up to 75 miles per hour, I just wanted it to be over. And when it ended it was…. only half way over!!! I must have overcome the fear of the height and speed as the second decent was much steeper and faster but it was AMAZING! We ended the experience riding a mountain coaster where you are suspended from the track above you (not too high up) and tossed about like a rag doll in the mouth of a violently playful dog! Good thing we ate before getting on! Ugh… We ended our day having a delicious Italian dinner at Alfredo’s Rostaria in Ramsau. All in all a fantastic day filled with adventure, fun, and for me, facing my fear of heights! Check out the website to see all the fantastic pics!
